Yesterday the National Press Club (Washington DC) invited staff and journalists to a moment of silence and contemplation of the death of Jamal Khashoggi (apparently murdered in the Saudi embassy in Istanbul, Turkey); and to a commemoration of his journalistic efforts to encourage reformation of Middle Eastern policies that restrict a freer exchange of ideas and policies.
Often while mass rallies and mobs and secret backroom palace intrigues create temporary fervor for despotic or single-minded public disorder, it is the modest thinker and collector of facts that strikes terror into hearts of bosses and tyrants.
