Indian Removal Legacy, Pioneer Trail continued

This is a brief synopsis of the Indian Removal legacy of the southeastern US, with images depicting northern Georgia and the Three Forks of the Arkansas River, near the ruins of Fort Smith. Reference is made to the dilemma of plains’ tribes already inhabiting the lands designated as the new Indian Territory west of the Mississippi, especially initially the Osage. Justice in the 19th century early America is reflected in the hangings of Cherokee Bill (in the Indian Territory) and of other individuals like Mary Surratt (implicated in the assassination of Abraham Lincoln).
